Swan Kitchen Appliances

I painted my kitchen Behr’s Porpoise. Its supposed to be a gray but it looks like a light purple/lavender tint?

I have it in a semi gloss in the kitchen with with Behr’s Evening Hush as the trim colors and white swan for the cabinet faces. The floor tiles are Traffic Masters Ceramica Cool Grey With everything up it looks like Lavender on the walls, dark blue/gray cabinets, and bright white on the faces. i did this because I have brushed stainless steel/black Appliances. What can I do to make it all fit in and look good. What kind of curtains should I get what color/kind of accessories should I get. I want the nice clean gray kind of look.

I saw the shades that you used from Behr – Porpoise and Evening Hush. They are both definitely gray with no purple or lavender tint. I actually work at The Home Depot and I get similar questions from customers who spend a lot of time deciding on the perfect shade then are not happy when it is applied at home.

Before you start repainting, I have a few quick questions and suggestions. First, did you prime the walls white before painting? The Porpoise shade is in the Ultra collection (paint and primer in one). A color underneath this layer could have “skewed” the light gray color. Second, this shade of gray is light, which in the kitchen with darker grays, dark blue, and black, may make the color appear different than in a room with lighter colors and textures throughout the room. Third, How much light is in the room? Sometimes adding additional lighting can change the “shade” of the room and help the porpoise shade “compete” with the darker colors. Fourth, if you feel you may need to paint the room a darker gray color, consider Behr Ultra 8 oz. Milestone Interior/Exterior Paint Tester # 760F-5. The tester is in the 8 ounce size, is slightly darker than the Porpoise, and gives 16 sq. ft. of coverage so you have a large testing area to view.
